📖 Daily Readings

Daily Readings are a curated collection of recovery reflections — one per day, drawn from the tradition that matches your path. They are shared, publicly-sourced content and are not encrypted.

The Seven Modalities

MRT supports seven reading traditions. You can enable any combination in your preferences:

ModalityStyle
12-Step (AA-inspired)Sobriety-focused, Higher Power language
12-Step (NA-inspired)Substance-neutral, fellowship-centred
12-Step (CA-inspired)Cocaine Anonymous tradition
Recovery DharmaBuddhist-inspired, non-theistic
SMART RecoveryScience-based, CBT / REBT tools
Secular / StoicPhilosophy-driven, no spiritual language
Mindfulness / BuddhistMeditation and present-moment awareness

How Rotation Works

MRT picks today's reading automatically using the day of the year — the same date always returns the same reading for a given modality. There is no manual selection required. If you have multiple modalities enabled, MRT opens on your active modality for the day; swipe left or right inside the modal to browse the others.

Accessing Your Reading

Tap Daily Reading on the Dynamic Anchor widget at the top of the Dashboard. The reading opens in a full-screen modal showing:

  • Theme — the day's headline.
  • Body — the reflection passage.
  • Reflection — a guided question to sit with.
  • Affirmation — a closing statement to carry through the day.
  • Go Deeper — an optional link to further reading.

Tap the chevron (â–¾) next to the Daily Reading button to open an external fellowship reading instead (AA, NA, SMART, etc.) in your browser.

Changing Your Modality Preferences

Go to Profile → General, scroll to the Daily Reading section to enable or disable individual modalities. Your selections are saved to your account and sync across devices.

Sharing a Reading

Tap Share reading on any reading card. The app copies the reading's theme, body, reflection, and affirmation to your clipboard — or opens the native share sheet on supported devices.

Privacy note: The share output contains only the published reading text and the MRT website URL. No personal data, journal content, or account information is ever included.

Journal From a Reading

Inside the reading modal, tap "Journal on this" to open a pre-filled journal entry seeded with the reading's reflection prompt. This entry goes through the full Zero-Knowledge encryption pipeline — your response is private even though the reading itself is not.
